About us

About CUPL

Founded in 1952 and situated in Beijing, China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL)remains best known for legal academic and also enjoys a distinguished reputation in arts, history, philosophy, economics, management, and education.

CUPL comprises 18 schools and departments, 11 university-level research institutes,and 7 Collaborative Innovation Centers. CUPL currently offers 24 majors for undergraduates, 78 academic master degree programs, 5 professional master degree programs, 34 doctoral programs, and 3 post-doctoral research centers.

Over the past 66 years, CUPL has educated and trained more than 200,000 graduates, and has assumed a leadership role in China in the development and innovation of legal thought. In addition, the university has played a key role in representing the country in international academic exchanges through collaborating with 235 distinguished universities and institutions in 50 countries. Each year, hundreds of faculties and students travel abroad for international exchanges and studies.

About the School of Humanities

The School of Humanitieswas founded in June 2002. It consists of theDepartment of Philosophy (including the Institute of Philosophy and the Institute of Logic),the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, the Institute of History, Art Institute,and the Institute of Culture of the Rule of Law.

Under Philosophy and Chinese History disciplines, there are ten master’s degree programs onPhilosophy of Marxism, Chinese Philosophy, Foreign Philosophy, Logic, Science of Religion, Aesthetics, Modern and Contemporary Chinese History, Historical Philology, History of Particular Subject, and Ancient Chinese History. There are two majors under Science of Law, namely the Culture of the Rule of Law, and Jurisprudence (legal logic direction). It is worth noting that the Schoolof Humanities takes the national lead in setting up a doctoral degree in the culture of the rule of law as an interdisciplinary subject.

At present, there are 70 full-time teachers, among whom20 are professors (including one tenured professor) and 27are associate professors. A group of the teachers not only hold important positions in various national academic institutions, but also exert considerable influence on different fields.

The school attaches great importance deepening the integration of the humanities and law disciplines, and is committed to cultivating the talents with profound humanistic heritage and the spirit of the rule of law.
