Brief Introduction:
Religious Studies is a social science of humanities whose research object is the world religion and its relationship with various fields of social culture. The adoption of multidisciplinary method is the current developing trend of religious science. This major is the secondary discipline of philosophy with master degree, and currently possesses three directions including religious philosophy, religion and law, Buddhism and traditional Chinese culture.
Our teaching and academic staff consists of 5 members including 1 professor, 1 associate professor, and 3 lecturers, all of whom are PhD graduates from leading universities in the world.
Our subject possesses a theoretical knowledge system of religious studies featured cross-research between religion and law and breakthrough in the comparative study of Buddhism and Chinese traditional culture. Coping with the Center for Religious and Legal Studies of CUPL, it dedicates to construct a teaching-learning-research system with CUPL’s characteristics.

Our goal is to cultivate compound and innovative talents with sound value and outlook for world and life, solid expertise in his specialized field and excellent mastery of theoretical knowledge, fine academic literacy and innovative ability, physical and mental well-being and excellent morals with academic skills, in order to meet the requirement of contemporary social development.

7. Ability to work in relevant departments of government agencies, enterprises and institutions, especially religious education and studies, administration for religious affairs, press and publication, cultural communication and foreign affairs after graduation
Major Tracks:
1. Religious philosophy is a philosophical reflection on the most basic and important religious thoughts and phenomenon. This direction mainly focuses on the philosophical research done in history on religious experience, beliefs, language, cognition, and diversity related to modern and contemporary philosophers and scholars.
2. Religion and law examines the relationship between religion and law from a multidisciplinary perspective, examines and reflects on the spiritual roots and value sources of law, and studies the characteristics and content of religious commandments system and interaction with secular legal systems.
3. Buddhism and Chinese traditional culture mainly studies the historical and intellectual changes of Chinese Buddhism and the Sinicization of Buddhism and its relationship with Chinese traditional culture.
