Brief Introduction:
Aesthetics is one of the important secondary disciplines of philosophy, which is a discipline that studies the aesthetic theory and practice of human beings and the aesthetic relationship between people and the world. The object of aesthetic research is the aesthetic activity, namely, the life-experience-based activity that takes the image-world as the object. There are two tracks in this major: literary aesthetics and aesthetics of calligraphy and painting. Based on the teaching staff of the Institute of Philosophy, the Institute of Chinese and the Institute of Art in the School of Humanities, it provides comprehensive guidance and training for graduate students in this track. The aesthetics of calligraphy and painting is a characteristic track of our discipline of aesthetics that is superior to those of the other universities.
Educational Objective:
The objective the discipline is to train students professionally and to strengthen their sense of social responsibility. The analytical and critical skills developed during their study prepare them for a variety of professions including business, law and administration.
Major Tracks:
1. Literary Aesthetics: literary aesthetics is a theoretical discipline with Chinese characteristics, which is concerned with the aesthetic theory of literature and art.
2. Aesthetics of Calligraphy and Painting: the aesthetics of calligraphy and painting is a new subject emerging from the intersection of art and aesthetics, which is concerned with aesthetic activities in calligraphy, painting, music and other arts.
