Brief |
This course will discuss Indigenous religions, politics, and law in the United States with particular focus on the manner that Indigenous Indians in the country practice religious and cultural beliefs, participate in the politics of resistance and accommodation, and uphold Indigenous customary law and the laws of the natural world, while being required by U.S. law to follow national governmental law. The course interestingly will illuminate the dynamic interaction of Indigenous worldviews and religio-cultural practices with the broader structures and policies of the dominant U.S. culture and political and economic system. |
