Brief Introduction:

The Rule of Law Culture specialize mainly in the field of law, philosophy (including religious studies and logics), journalism, history and Chinese literature. The Ph.D. Program was initiated by China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL). In 2007, CUPL took the lead in starting the Ph.D. Program of Rule of Law Culture in the major of Law Theory. One year later, CUPL set the first Master Program of Rule of Law Culture in China. In 2014, the Program of Rule of Law Culture was listed in the Admissions Guide as an independent secondary discipline and run by the School of Humanities at the first time.

Tens of Postdocs have started to work here since 2015. In the past ten more years, around one hundred Ph.D. students have finished their courses and have received their degrees here. By now, 8 Ph.D. Supervisors and 10 Master Supervisors work for the Institute. Students can have two supervisors, one is from the institute and the other is from other departments within or even outside CUPL.

 

Educational Objective:

Rule of Law Culture, focusing on the rule of law, is an interdisciplinary, comprehensive, and Chinese characteristic subject. This academic topic is not only an extension of law study, the product when we use philosophy and other disciplines in humanities to study the urgent practical problems, but also a deep combination of the above two aspects. The study of Rule of Law Culture is helpful to the research of law, philosophy, and other disciplines and is helpful to the combination of them too. Practically, this Ph.D. and Master Program has profound meaning not only in cultivating high quality graduates who can meet the demand of this period of time but also in promoting the rule of law of China.

 

Major Tracks:

Three Majors Tracks can be selected in both the Ph.D. Program and the Master Program of Rule of Law Culture: (1) Law Theory; (2) History of Law; (3) Logics and Languages in Law.

Chinese

 

Study Duration:

3 Years for M.A Program.

3 or 4 Years for Ph. D. Program.
