Center for ReligionandLawStudies (CRLS) at China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) was established in January 2011. It is an academic and policy research institution dedicatedtothe study of religion,andtherelationship between religion and law. The objectiveof thecenter is to promotethedevelopmentoftherule of lawin the field of religioninChina.

Based on the teaching and research team of thefaculty of School of Humanities, thecenter integrates the relevant research strengths of law, political science, and sociology at CUPL.BothChinese and foreign researchersare employedwith the aim ofbuildingan interdisciplinary research team that works onthe new frontiers of the discipline, so as to developworld-leading concentrations of research expertise across all our research fields.

Thecenter will actively carry out academic research on the relationship between religion and law, and build a well-known research platform for the study of religion and law. We will organize regularlectures, seminars and conferencesto sustain and enhance our tradition of nation-leading research and toprovide an opportunity for researchers toshare their work and research.

At present, thecenter is organizing a series of lectures entitled “Huayan Forum”funded by ChongqingHuayan Culture and Education Foundation. The aim of Huayan Forum is to“build a platform for the humanities education,andbridge the gap between the research of religion and the construction of a multicultural society”. The forumorganizes lectures and seminars, and one of its objectives is to help crystallize a research agenda by publication and build a pathway to further study.
